Constitutions for Association of Korean Language Education Research

Article 1. (Name)

This society is named "Association of Korean Language Education Research" (AKLER).

Article 2. (Purpose)

This society aims to improve Korean language and Korean language education through journals of AKLER.

Article 3. (Members)

This society accepts members only if approved by Board of Directors (BD) with the following qualifying admission applications.

1. Qualified by BD as they major in subjects related to KLER
2. Approved by BD pursuant to above the 1st section.
3. Organizations or groups that agree to the purpose of the establishments of AKLER.

Article IV (Member's Rights and Duty)

Members possess the following rights and duties.

1. Members own their rights and duties to be a member of general meetings, present their opinions related to the affairs, attend seminars, contribute their papers, etc.
2. Members have the obligation to attend seminars and pay the membership fee.
(1) If a cooperation joins, BD determines admission fees and annual fees.
(2) Group members that this constitution has not specified follow the 1st section above.

Article 5. (Business)

AKLER runs the following business.

1. Holds conference
2. Publishes volumes of journals
3. Issues a series of academic books
4. Conducts extra research and voluntary works

Article 6. (Directors)

AKLER is comprised of the following directors.

1. One president, a few vice presidents, one auditor, and a few directors of General Affairs, directors of planning, research directors, editing directors, publishing directors, information directors, directors of external relations, regional directors, international directors, and course directors.
2. President and auditor are elected by the General Assembly, and other directors are appointed by the president.
3. The term of office for directors is two years; it begins on September 1st and ends on August 31st. The beginning and end of fiscal year are the same to the term of office.

Article 7. (General Assembly)

AKLER has the General Assembly as the highest decision-making operating bodies.

1. The General Assembly holds with the last conference which is the end of the term of office.
2. The General Assembly sincerely votes for directors, revises the constitutions, and decides extra important agendas called by the president.
3. If needed, the president can require extraordinary general meetings.

Article 8. (Board of Directors)

AKLER has Board of Directors to carry out various projects.

1. BD is comprised of directors except for an auditor.
2. BD is convened due to the requirements from the president, or more than one directors: BD discusses important plans for AKLER and submits important issues to the General Assembly if necessary.
3. Each director performs the following duties for the decisions and orders by BD.
(1) President must represent AKLER and generalize affairs.
(2) Vice presidents must assist the president and would become an acting president in a case of the president's accident.
(3) Directors of General Affairs must manage the members, finance, and extra affairs.
(4) Directors of Planning must plan for the business and activities of the conference.
(5) Research directors must manage general affairs for opening conference.
(6) Editing directors must manage general affairs for publishing series of journals.
(7) Publication directors must manage general affairs for publishing a series of researches.
(8) Information directors must manage general affairs for administering the home-page etc.
(9) Directors of External Relations must manage the advertisement and foreign cooperative works for AKLER.
(10) Regional directors must manage affairs for AKLER as a represent of each region.
(11) International directors must manage affairs to exchange with other nations and research for AKLER.
(12) Course directors must manage affairs related to their majors.

Article 9. (Editing Commission)

AKLER has Editing Commission to publish a series of journals and collection of research works.

1. EC is comprised of directors who are recommended by BD, and appointed by the president.
2. Chairman of EC is appointed by the president, and Editing Directors and Publishing Directors participate as the official members.
3. EC performs the following affairs.
(1) General conditions for publication and examination of a series of journal "Korean Language Research"(KLER) must be managed.
(2) General conditions for projects and publication for a collection of conference researches must be managed.
4. The contents for publication and examination of papers are determined for separate regulation.
5. EC serves a term of 4 years.

Article 10. (Ethical Research Committee)

AKLER has Ethical Research Committee(ERC) to manage particulars related to Ethical Academic Research.

1. ERC is comprised of one chairman, less than 10 directors, and one auditor.
2. ERC examines any violation of ethical research duties, and should report the result to BD.

Article 11. (Awarding Committees for Young Scholars)

AKLER has Awarding Committees for Young Scholars (ACYS) for practical operation for young scholars.

1. ACYS is comprised of inside and outside 10 members including a chairman, vice chairman, and the chairman is the president of AKLER.
2. ACYS must report particulars about awards such as enacting or revising regulations, selecting a winner, and other related matters to BD.

Article 12.

Unregulated articles in this constitution obey decisions made from BD.
Supplementary provision

1. The 1st Constitution had been approved from July 31, 1992.
2. The 2nd Constitution had been approved from August 6, 1999.
3. The 3rd Constitution had been approved from February 24, 2000.
4. The 4th Constitution had been approved from August 18, 2000.
5. The 5th Constitution had been approved from January 1, 2004.
6. The 6th Constitution had been approved from April 21, 2007.
7. The 7th Constitution had been approved from August 25, 2007.
8. The 8th Constitution had been approved from August 14, 2009.
9. The 9th Constitution had been approved from November 7, 2009.
10. The 10th Constitution had been approved from March 26, 2010.
11. The 11th Constitution had been approved from April 4, 2011.
12. The 12th Constitution had been approved from September 3, 2011.
13. The 13th Constitution has been approved from October, 2013.
